Rhino ranching is a controversial topic in South Africa.
Many people feel that breeding rhinos in captivity is not true conservation. We feel differently. The private sector has played a major role in increasing numbers of various wild animals and they spend a massive amount of money and time on the management of these areas.
They play a role in increasing the amount of land under natural habitat and eco-system management and they contribute large amounts of data and research on these areas, wildlife management and the species that occur here.
There are two extremes to rhino ranching. One is an intensive captive breeding operation and the other is an extensive wildlife system.
